Deisis means ‘Prayer’ and both Virgin and Saint John the Baptism are praying to Christ. They are traditionally the first witness of the divinity of Christ; the Virgin and St. John are intercessors between Christ and humanity. Prayer is infallible if it is identified with the prayer of Christ. In the sacraments, this privileged identification as gift of God given to the Pilgrim Church is what constitutes the garment, the scoop of what will happen at the end of the times for all believers.
