Already advanced in years, Saint Helena, mother of Saint Constantin the Great, went on a journey to Jerusalem in search of the cross, on the year 325. A temple to Afrodita had been raised by the Emperor Hadrian on the G?lgota. Venerated Helena destroyed the statue of Afrodita and removed the ground revealing the Grave of our God, and three crosses. A lady of Jerusalem, very sick, was brought to touch the crosses, and as soon as she came close to Jesus’s Cross she went away direct to It. It was raised by the Archbishop Macarius of Jerusalem; A part of the Cross took to Constantinople the rest was left in Jerusalem. The Persians took it to his Country and it was recovered in 628.
