The image of the Savior in the throne is of Byzantine origin, and it goes back to the centuries previous to the iconoclasm. According to the Isaias’s vision, the Lord appears in a throne surrounded with seraphs, in Ezequiel’s vision that describes him between four living ones and in John’s vision where the throne registers in a rainbow. Christ appears with the ball of the World in His hands. Saint Peter and Saint Basil accompany Him in the image.
