Saint Blaise: Feast on February 11. Bishop of Sebaste, he lived an honorable and devout life during the reign of the Roman emperors Diocletian (284-305) and Licinius (307-324), fierce persecutors of Christians. He visited the imprisoned, and supported the martyrs. He was beheaded in 316.
San Modestus: Festivity on December 18. Born into a Christian family in Asia Minor. He became a monk. In 614, Persian forces fell on Syria and Palestine, killing 90,000 Christians and destroying Christian churches. Saint Modestus restored the holy places including the tomb of the Lord. He died in 634 at the age of 97.
