In Antioch, on having seen that Peter was giving a step backwards, Pavel did not hesitate to plant face. Peter was the first one whom Jesus called, when his name was still Simon and was going fishing in the lake Tiberiades with his brother Andrew. On the other hand Pavel, whose name was Saulo, was a fierce and violent pursuer of the Christians, who had seen stone Stephen, the first Christian martyr. Saulo turned in Damascus about the year 31 or 32 guided by somebody called Ananias, after the blinding vision that Luke describes. Peter and Pavel died martyrs in Rome, under Neron, between 64 and 67. Peter was crucified head below, and Pavel, like Roman citizen, was beheaded.
