He was born in December, 1651 in Makarovo, Kiev. There learned the Greek, the Latin languages and classic sciences. In 1668 he joined a monastery and preached the God’s word. In 1684 they ordered him to go to the Caves of Kiev – Lavra. Where the Superior ordered him the organization of the Menaion and the life of the Saints, work that bore him twenty years. His soul was full of the feelings of the saints, who reinforced his spirit they cheered the faith up to finish so noble task. In that time Demetrius was already the head of several monasteries.
