One of the twelve apostles, the disciple that Jesus loved, is the author of the Gospel of love. According to the testimony of Irenaeus, bishop of Lyon, John published his Gospel in Ephesus, where he spent the last years of his life, between 98 and 117. In his iconography, Juan appears in two different ways: beardless, with the clothing of the a young disciple of Jesus, or an old man with a boat, like the Baptist, worthy of the nickname Son of Thunder. Despite being one of the most charismatic figures of the early Church, in his texts he hides behind the generic figure of the disciple.
