Saint Luke painted this icon in which the Virgin holds the Child with her left hand, and shows him to the faithful with her right. Christ, wrapped in a great royal himation and with the scroll of the Law that is fulfilled in Him, gives the blessing of him bathed in the light of his nature, both human and divine.
