The icon of the Virgin of Kazan was hidden during the occupation of the Tartar. A girl found the image in the ruins of Kazan in 1579. This icon represents the God’s Mother with his Son, who will always appear next to Her, standing along with the Virgin. While She supports the Child, Christ grants his blessing with the right hand supporting his fingers in such a way that represents the Greek letters IC and XC, the first and last letter of the name of Christ Jesus.
